Seven Ways to a Longer Life

You might blame your poor health on genetics, but it's more likely to be caused by past behavior. Every time you've been stressed out about work , missed exercise or avoided eating vegetables, your body has remembered. Neglecting seemingly small things can have a cumulative effect that usually doesn't show itself until serious damage has been done. But you can make some simple changes to improve your health significantly with surprisingly little effort.

1. Get more sleep. You should be getting at least 8 to 9 hours of sleep a night. Lack of sleep can seriously affect how the body functions, so try to add an hour of sleep. Also remember to maintain a

regular sleep cycle by going to bed and waking up at a set time every day, and avoiding alcohol and exercise for at least two hours before bedtime.

2. Drink more water. You should be getting at least nine glasses of water a day, but most people drink much less. Aim to increase your water intake by three glasses daily.

3. Eat more vegetables. Vegetables contain fiber, vitamins and minerals which can decrease your risk of obesity , and protect against a range of diseases.

4. Exercise more. Stick to a regular workout that includes cardio and resistance training.

5. Let go of your stress. Stress can have long term negative effects on the body, and can contribute to heart disease, ulcers, immune-system deficiencies and hypertension, so try to calm down.

6. Lose a few pounds. Being overweight can have a very bad effect on your health, so try and stick to a healthy diet and lose those last stubborn pounds.

7. Get an annual medical exam. Health problems become more dangerous if left untreated, so don't put off your health check.

By following these tips, you'll soon be on the road to better health!
