Drink More Wine!

More and more studies are saying that wine may actually be good for you! Research shows that moderate wine drinking has many health benefits like fighting heart disease, ulcers, cancer, strokes and stress . In most cases, researchers found that those who drink one to three glasses a day regularly are healthier than those who drink none.

Red wine is specifically credited for its ability to fight heart disease, as well as helping to prevent

Alzheimers disease , lowering cholesterol and extending life in general. One recent study by the University of California at Davis showed that red wine can even stop some of the harmful effects of smoking on the arteries . In general, red wine is noted for its healing powers due to antioxidants that benefit our health by protecting and preventing disease.

White wine also has some beneficial effects. One study by the University at Buffalo said that wine

drinking, and white wine in particular, promotes good lung health. Another study from the University of Milan indicated that compounds in white wine may act as anti-inflammatories and antioxidants It may even prevent conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis .

That's definitely good news for those of us who like to enjoy a glass, but remember that moderation is important. Here's to your health in 2005!
