If your paid subscription contains teacher-led classes, whether group or private, those sessions are delivered on a “use them or lose them basis”, this means that if you haven’t used those sessions by the end of your subscription, those unused sessions are lost to you and will not be refunded. If your paid subscription is a monthly recurring subscription, you teacher-led sessions will expire at the end of each month as described above. All subscription fees are non-refundable after your free trial. If you decide to subscribe after the free trial, we require a minimum study period specified in the checkout pages. After that minimum period, you may cancel at any time.
The free trial is available only to first-time users. We cannot offer a free trial unless you sign up with a credit card, but you can still try us risk-free. If you cancel by end of the free trial, you won't be charged. If you want to pay offline, contact our customer service team to know the current money-back guarantee period. You can find the Contact-us link at the top right of every page.
To activate your free trial, you must provide us with valid billing information for use after your trial period. As soon as we receive your order for a subscription with a free trial, you will receive immediate access to the school. We will not charge you during your trial period. You can cancel at any time during that period and be charged nothing at all, ever.
If you paid by credit card and wish to avoid being charged, simply cancel your subscription within your free trial period. To cancel your subscription at any time, visit your account status on the My Course page.
If you do not cancel, after your trial period, Englishtown will charge you your first monthly subscription fee. Thereafter, you will be charged each month to ensure uninterrupted service. We apologize, but we cannot issue any refunds once credit card billing has begun.
Sometimes we offer an introductory package or a free headset when you sign up for a free trial. This is free with your paid subscription. If you cancel during your free trial or opt for a money-back guarantee, you are responsible for the shipping fee. You can also opt out of these offers in the checkout pages.
We cannot offer a free trial if you choose not to pay with a credit card. However, if you pay offline, you can still try the service risk-free for the trial days with our money-back guarantee.Credit card payments
You can choose either:
the standard monthly fee with the option to cancel at any time
a discounted monthly price that is dependent upon a minimum subscription length
If you choose a discounted monthly price, you commit to subscribing for a certain number of months. If you cancel before the specified number of months, you will owe Englishtown the standard monthly price for the months you have used. Before we cancel your subscription, we will charge you the difference between the discounted price you have paid and the standard monthly price.
After initial enrollment, if your credit card expires, is cancelled, is lost, or rendered invalid, your subscription is in danger of termination. You will be contacted and given the opportunity to change your registration data. If your credit card is not successfully recharged and you are not renewed successfully, your subscription will be terminated.Offline payments
For monthly credit card payments, your subscription will automatically renew and you will be billed each month until you cancel. For offline payments, you pay once for a finite number of months. You may renew your subscription when this time expires.
Offline payments are also risk-free with Englishtown's 100% money-back guarantee. If you are not completely satisfied with your course during your trial period, we'll refund your entire course fee. After this period, no subscription fees will be refunded.
We are currently only able to offer offline payment options to residents of Korea and Japan.

As part of its research, the RCEAL will gather data from EF's network of English schools to create a rich database for language research studies.
To assist EF and the RCEAL in this research, by enrolling in an EF course, you and/or, if applicable, your parent or legal guardian on your behalf give consent to the RCEAL to reproduce and use for language research purposes any material/information that you author or create during EF courses or activities (for example, your course assignments). This includes use of the materials in their original and transcribed forms ('Data') by the RCEAL in all media and for the full term of copyright in the Data. You understand that the Data will be held confidentially and will be anonymised, which means that your personal data such as your name and contact details will be removed from the Data before being used in RCEAL research, so that no one will be able to trace the Data back to you. Once the Data is anonymised it may be used in academic publications and presentations and in study, teaching and learning materials.
In accordance with the UK Data Protection Act 1998, personal data collected by the RCEAL will be processed only for research purposes and shall be securely stored and deleted/destroyed after a period of 7 years from initial collection. The 'Data Controller' for the processing of data collected by the RCEAL is the University of Cambridge, University Data Protection Officer, The Old Schools, Trinity Lane, Cambridge, UK, CB2 1TN.
Any queries you may have about the RCEAL study and the use of your Data and personal data by RCEAL should be addressed in the first instance to:

You agree that if EF Englishtown does not exercise or enforce any legal right or remedy which is contained in the Agreement (or which EF Englishtown has the benefit of under any applicable law), this will not be taken to be a formal waiver of EF Englishtown’s rights and that those rights or remedies will still be available to EF Englishtown.

We use both session ID cookies and persistent cookies. A session ID cookie expires when you close your browser. A persistent cookie remains on your hard drive for an extended period of time.
We use the service of a third party tracking utility company to track the behavior of visitors to our site. However, we do not have access to or control over their cookies. The information we collect through our third party tracking utility company is completely anonymous and is used to improve our services and marketing efforts.
As is true of most websites, we gather some information automatically and store it in log files. This information includes Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, browser type and language, Internet service provider (ISP), referring and exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data. We use this information to understand and analyze trends, to administer the site, to learn about user behavior on the site, and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole.
We employ a software technology called clear gifs (a.k.a. Web Beacons/Web Bugs), that help us better manage content on our site by informing us what content is effective. Clear gifs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and are used to track the online movements of Web users. In contrast to cookies, which are stored on a user’s computer hard drive, clear gifs are embedded invisibly on Web pages and are about the size of the period at the end of this sentence. We do not tie the information gathered by clear gifs to our customers’ personally identifiable information.
We use clear gifs in our HTML-based emails to let us know which emails have been opened by recipients. This allows us to gauge the effectiveness of certain communications and the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns.
In some of our email messages, we use a “click-through URL” linked to content on the EF Englishtown website. When customers click one of these URLs, they pass through a separate web server before arriving at the destination page on our website. We track this click-through data to help us determine interest in particular topics and measure the effectiveness of our customer communications. If you prefer not to be tracked in this way, you should not click text or graphic links in the email messages.
We may provide you the opportunity to participate in quizzes or contests on our site. If you participate, we will request certain personally identifiable information from you. Participation in these quizzes and contests is completely voluntary and you therefore have a choice whether or not to disclose this information. The requested information typically includes contact information (such as name and email address), and demographic information (such as zip code).
We may use this information to personalize our communications to you and to suggest more relevant products and services.
Our Web site offers publicly accessible blogs or community forums. You should be aware that any information you provide in these areas may be read, collected, and used by others who access them. To request removal of your personal information from our blog or community forum, contact us here. In some cases, we may not be able to remove your personal information, in which case we will let you know if we are unable to do so and why.
This site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that Englishtown is not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of any website that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies only to information collected by the Englishtown website.
We post customer testimonials on our web site which may contain personally identifiable information. We do obtain the customer's consent via email prior to posting the testimonial to post their name along with their testimonial. If you wish to request to have your testimonial removed you contact our Customer Service here.
If you decide to refer a friend to our site as part of EF Englishtown contests or other promotions, we ask you for the friend's email address and give you the option of sending them a personal message. EF Englishtown will then send a one-time, automatically generated email message inviting your friend to visit our site. EF Englishtown stores the email address in your personal file solely for the purpose of crediting you if your friend becomes a member. Your friend may contact us at here to request that we remove this information from our database.
We also utilize an import contacts feature to help you keep in touch with your contacts and other members. We make it easy for you to invite people from your email address books to join you on our Site. At your request we will search your email address book to help you import your contacts to our site. When we do this, we do not store any of your contacts' information our our servers. We may send an email on your behalf to your contacts, but we do not keep their email address or any other information until they register for our site themselves.
